Activities and surroundings
Enjoy our traditional British seaside at Gorleston beach, which stretches for three wonderful sandy miles. If you're looking for a relaxing, tranquil beach, with amazing views and golden sand, you've found the ideal place!
Patrolled by lifeguards in the summer months, this is a fantastic beach for building sandcastles and very child friendly. The whole beach is open to dogs from October to April, and there's a large dog friendly section year round.
The newly installed Splashzone is great for cooling off the kids during the summer and the model boating pond is a lovely reminder of Gorleston's Victorian heyday.
On the clifftop, there's a large play area, fitness trail, tennis courts and lots of green space. If you fancy an ice cream, or some traditional fish and chips, head to one of the cafés on the prom. Or simply relax on a bench on the prom or cliffs, looking down onto the shoreline, watching the waves gently break on the golden sand.
Close by you'll find beautiful unspoilt beaches at Winterton, Sea Palling and Horsey, home to seals and an abundance of birdlife. The spectacular Norfolk Broads are within easy reach and you can hire a day boat from Wroxham, Acle or Potter Heigham.
Head to historic Norwich to visit the Norman Castle, cathedrals and museums. Visit the vibrant outdoor market - named the UK's best - and the many independent shops in the lanes.
